Sitting right at the heart of the bazaar district, the monument was erected in the 16th century to commemorate the founding of the city.
From there, head to the western edge of Hyderabad and see the impressive Golconda Fort. Perched atop a hill, the magnificent 16th century citadel looms over the surrounding landscape and stretches out for 11km, creating an impenetrable fortress. Although very old, Golconda Fort is a must-visit destination, offering incredible views across the Deccan foothills. Just 2km from Golconda Fort you’ll find the Qutb Shahi Tombs sitting in tranquil gardens. Seven of the eight Qutb Shahi rulers were buried here, making it a poignant historic landmark on your Hyderabad sightseeing list.
