Travel restrictions to Sri Lanka

Who can travel?

  • This flight is open to all nationals and visitors subject to entry requirements and restrictions

Sri Lanka Covid Travel Restrictions

Documents needed for travelling

  • a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 2 weeks before departure; or
  • COVID-19 recovery certificate issued at least 7 days and at most 6 months before departure, and a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they received a vaccine dose at least 14 days after the positive test and at least 14 days before departure; or
  • a printed negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at most 72 hours before departure from the first embarkation point; or
  • a printed negative COVID-19 rapid antigen test taken at most 48 hours before departure from the first embarkation point.
  • The test result must be in English.
  • Self-testing tests are not permitted.
  • This does not apply to:
    • children younger than 12 years old
    • passengers between 12 and 18 years with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they received one vaccine dose at least 2 weeks before departure.
    • Vaccines accepted are Moderna (Spikevax) and Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty).
  • All passengers must have COVID-19 insurance obtained at https://portal.pionline.lk/covidinsurance/ or upon arrival.

Travel requirements to arrive in Sri Lanka

  • Passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 2 weeks before departure traveling as tourists can obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) on arrival.
  • This does not apply to citizens of Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, and Syria.
  • They must obtain a pre-arranged visa.

PCR test required to travel to Sri Lanka

  • Passengers are subject to a COVID -19 PCR test upon arrival.
  • This does not apply to:
    • Passengers younger than 12 years.
    • Passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 2 weeks before departure.
    • passengers with COVID-19 recovery certificate issued at least 7 days and at most 6 months before departure, and a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they received a vaccine dose at least 14 days after the positive test and at least 14 days before departure;
    • passengers between 12 and 18 years with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they received one vaccine dose at least 2 weeks before departure. Vaccines accepted are Moderna (Spikevax) and Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty).

Quarantine Requirements

  • Passengers could be subject to quarantine for 7 days. Details can be found at https://www.epid.gov.lk/web/
  • This does not apply to:
    • passengers younger than 12 years.
    • passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 2 weeks before departure; 
    • passengers with COVID-19 recovery certificate issued at least 7 days and at most 6 months before departure, and a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they received a vaccine dose at least 14 days after the positive test and at least 14 days before departure;
    • passengers between 12 and 18 years with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they received one vaccine dose at least 2 weeks before departure. Vaccines accepted are Moderna (Spikevax) and Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty).
