Find out more about our fares

Why couldn't I get the lowest fare?

flydubai fares rise as more seats are sold. Seats are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. If you can't get the lowest fare, it simply means one of your fellow passengers has got there first.

Can I get a refund on my fare?

Unless applicable laws provide otherwise, we don't offer cash refunds because of processing costs, but if you decide to cancel your flight, we will issue a voucher to use for future travel with flydubai.

Can I choose my seat before I fly?

Yes. You can choose and pre-book your seat at an additional cost. The cost will depend on the seat you select and will be clearly shown on the seat map during your booking.

Does flydubai issue tickets?

We'll issue you with an electronic booking confirmation once your booking has been paid for.

How can I get a group fare?

A group is classified as nine or more passengers (adults and children) travelling together under a single booking reference. Special group fares may be available on select routes depending on the number of passengers travelling. You can book group fares for up to 30 passengers by calling our Customer Centre on +971 600 54 44 45. For bookings beyond 30 passengers, email us at groupreservations@flydubai.com.

Does flydubai offer child discounts?

No, unless it's for an infant sharing a parent's seat. If we offered child discounts, adult fares would have to rise to compensate.

However, there are some differences in taxes for children, so if your child is more than 2 years old and less than 11 (for the whole duration of their journey) you should book them as a child. The fare will be the same as an adult fare, but the taxes might be lower.

I made my booking through a travel shop – where can I change or cancel it?

What is 3D Secure: Verified by Visa, Mastercard SecureCode® and American Express SafeKey®?

flydubai is dedicated to making your online payment safe and secure. That's why we've added an extra level of security for payments with Visa, MasterCard and American Express. This protects you against unauthorised use of your credit card.

3D secure is a credit card authentication used by Visa, MasterCard and American Express for online transactions and designed to protect your online purchases. This authentication ensures that even in the case of lost or stolen card, your card cannot be misused online without the knowledge of your IPIN code. When completing an online transaction, you must verify your IPIN along with the rest of your credit or debit card details.

Verified by Visa (VBV) is a service from Visa that lets you shop securely online with your existing Visa Card. Usable only on Verified by Visa sites, this service through a simple checkout process, confirms your identity when you make purchases.

Mastercard SecureCode® is an easy to use, secured online payment service that lets you shop securely. This service through a simple checkout process, confirms your identity when you make purchases on the Internet.

American Express SafeKey® (EMV® 3D Secure) is a service from American Express that uses the latest 3D Secure technology to protect you against fraud while using your card online.

How does 3D Secure work?

After you enter your credit card details you are requested to enter your personal security code. Your financial institution will authenticate the transaction within seconds, and confirm that you are the individual making the purchase.

It is important for you to understand that the 3D Secure pages are controlled by your card issuing bank and not by flydubai. flydubai will not be able to advise you what to enter here. This is confidential information that only you should know. There are clear instructions on the page to inform you what to enter and where.

How do I get a 3D Secure IPIN?

If you don't yet have a Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode, you must apply for a 3D Secure IPIN with the bank that issued your credit card, as each bank has its own process.

What happens if I enter my credit card details incorrectly?

If you have already enrolled and you enter the details incorrectly, your payment will either be:

  • declined and you will see a message on the final checkout page displaying this
  • you will not be able to complete the transaction process and you will be unable to move from the secured page.

In the event that this should happen, we would recommend that you contact your card issuing bank immediately.

What happens if I have forgotten my log in details?

Please select "forgotten details" or such like from within the secured page. You will need to follow the instructions that your bank give you.

What happens if I cancel the transaction?

Your credit card will not be charged. You will be taken back to the payment options page and you can choose to pay with an alternate credit card or through one of our payment partners.

Any other questions?

If you have any other questions regarding this process, please contact your card issuing bank for assistance.

Baggage

Other airlines offer an allowance for checked baggage. Why is flydubai different?

Carrying a baggage in the hold increases fuel burn and ground handling costs. So, if you help flydubai reduce these costs by travelling light, flydubai won't make you pay for them. It's only fair.

How big can my bag be?

Each piece must not be larger than 75 cm x 55 cm x 35 cm or weigh more than 32 kg.

What happens if I arrive with more than 3 pieces of checked baggage?

If you've pre-purchased a 20 kg, a 30 kg or a 40 kg checked baggage allowance, you can check-in up to 3 pieces.

The combined weight of all pieces must not be more than your pre-purchased checked baggage allowance. No single piece should be larger than 75 cm x 55 cm x 35 cm or weigh more than 32 kg.

Provided there's space in the hold for them, extra weight or pieces of baggage will be charged at a per kilo weight, even if the total weight for all pieces is less than the allowance you purchased.

What happens if I arrive at the airport and have not already bought a baggage allowance?

If you haven't bought a checked baggage allowance, you'll be charged a per kilo rate provided there's space in the hold for your bags.

Up to 4 hours before departure, you get a discount if you buy a checked baggage allowance online or through the Customer Centre.

What happens if my bag is overweight?

If there's enough space in the hold for your bag, you'll be charged a per kilo rate depending on your destination.

What happens if I arrive at the gate with an over-sized or overweight bag?

You can check in over-sized hand baggage at the flydubai check-in desk. You'll be charged at a per kilo rate.

Can I bring Zamzam water from Saudi Arabia?

If you're travelling from Jeddah, Madinah, or Taif you can bring up to five litres of Islamic Holy Water (or 'Zamzam’ water) as checked baggage in addition to your applicable baggage allowance, at no extra cost.

If you’re travelling from other cities of Saudi Arabia you can bring up to five litres of holy water, however, it will be considered as part of your checked baggage allowance. If your checked baggage exceeds the baggage allowance stated in your e-ticket or booking confirmation, you will be required to pay the excess baggage fee.

Please note, the holy water must be sealed and safely packed in government approved packaging.

flydubai vouchers

Can I use my voucher after the expiry date?

No. You must use the voucher within 6 months. After this, it can't be used and there's no cash refund.

I've lost my voucher number / PIN. How can I find out what they are?

You'll need to contact the Customer Centre. They will re-send the voucher and PIN to your email address. You’ll need to have your original booking reference.

Can I use my voucher with a flydubai travel partner?

Yes. You can use your voucher to book through any channel.

What if my voucher is worth more than the fare I want to buy?

Any difference between the fare and the value of the voucher will be saved on the same voucher. You can use it for future travel with flydubai.

Can I use the voucher to make a booking for someone else?

No, you can use your voucher to pay only for yourself.

Interline and codeshare

Below you'll find some common questions that you might have about our new partnership with Emirates.

Emirates and flydubai partnership

What is the difference between a codeshare and an interline partnership?

A codeshare pertains to an airline marketing services on another airline’s fleet. For example, flydubai markets EK 001 DXB-LHR as FZ 6001.

Interline allows both airlines to book multiple segments to take advantage of each other’s network. It means an airline can connect you from one destination to another destination not on its network, via another airline, while keeping the entire booking in its name. For example, Emirates passengers can travel Cape Town to DXB on Emirates and in Dubai they transfer onto flydubai for the Dubai to Tbilisi segment of the journey.

What is the difference between the marketing carrier and the operating carrier?

The operating carrier is the carrier that physically operates the flight. The marketing carrier is the airline that sells the itinerary under their flight code. For example, a flydubai passenger is booked from Zanzibar to Manchester:

Zanzibar to Dubai – FZ688 flydubai operates the sector.

Dubai to Manchester – FZ6020 Emirates operates the sector and flydubai markets the sector.

What will be the key benefits of the partnership for passengers?

When you book a flight with flydubai that includes a flydubai operated flight, the fare selected will be baggage and seat inclusive in Economy Class. If you are travelling in Business Class, baggage, seat and meal will be included.

Likewise, if you’ve purchased your ticket from flydubai, you should contact flydubai. However, both airlines will look after each other’s passengers throughout the journey especially when operational changes are required.

If you’ve purchased your tickets from a travel agent, please contact your travel agent for changes.
