A codeshare pertains to an airline marketing services on another airline’s fleet. For example, flydubai markets EK 001 DXB-LHR as FZ 6001.
Interline allows both airlines to book multiple segments to take advantage of each other’s network. It means an airline can connect you from one destination to another destination not on its network, via another airline, while keeping the entire booking in its name. For example, Emirates passengers can travel Cape Town to DXB on Emirates and in Dubai they transfer onto flydubai for the Dubai to Tbilisi segment of the journey.
The operating carrier is the carrier that physically operates the flight. The marketing carrier is the airline that sells the itinerary under their flight code. For example, a flydubai passenger is booked from Zanzibar to Manchester:
Zanzibar to Dubai – FZ688 flydubai operates the sector.
Dubai to Manchester – FZ6020 Emirates operates the sector and flydubai markets the sector.
If you have purchased your tickets from Emirates for joint Emirates and flydubai flights, you should contact Emirates if you have any queries related to your booking.
Likewise, if you’ve purchased your ticket from flydubai, you should contact flydubai. However, both airlines will look after each other’s passengers throughout the journey especially when operational changes are required.
If you’ve purchased your tickets from a travel agent, please contact your travel agent for changes.
flydubai flights numbers in the 6000-6999 series are operated by Emirates, and Emirates flight numbers in the 2000-2499 series are operated by flydubai. The operating carrier will be confirmed during the booking process and clearly stated in your e-ticket or booking confirmation.

flydubai will continue to operate from Terminal 2 with select flights from Terminal 3 and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), and Emirates from Terminal 3, Dubai International Airport. You should check in based on the operating carrier and not the marketing carrier. The terminal number is clearly mentioned at the time of booking and on your e-ticket or booking confirmation (only for Dubai).
