Forbidden and restricted items

To keep you and your fellow passengers safe, there are some items that you cannot take with you on flydubai flights.

Things you shouldn't pack in hand baggage

  • Real, replica or toy weapons.
  • Sharp objects like knives, razor blades and scissors.
  • Hypodermic needles (unless you have a medical certificate explaining why you need them).
  • Sporting bats and clubs, hard sporting balls.

Things you shouldn't pack in checked baggage

  • Important documents like passports and visas.
  • Computers.
  • Valuable items like money, jewellery, and precious metals.
  • Any medication that you might need during your flight or trip.
  • Fragile or perishable items.

Things you shouldn't pack in hand and checked baggage

  • Dangerous items that could injure people or cause damage to the aircraft.
  • Damaged, defective, or recalled electronic devices or batteries.
  • Items illegal in the country you’re travelling to or from.
  • Lithium batteries with more than 160 Wh or 8 g of lithium.
  • Ridable suitcases and small vehicles

Guide to transporting lithium batteries

If you are travelling with any of the following portable electronic devices, please see the Lithium battery transport guidelines, as some items might be forbidden for carriage on our flights.

  • e-cigarette
  • Laptop
  • Mobile phone
  • Rechargeable power bank or batteries
  • Digital video camera
  • Ridable suitcase
  • Small motorised vehicle
  • Any other lithium battery-powered portable electronic device

Any portable electronic devices packed in your checked baggage must be switched off and not be able to be activated accidentally during the flight.

Restrictions on ridable suitcases and small vehicles

Ridable suitcases and small vehicles with lithium-ion batteries, regardless of whether the battery is attached or removed, are forbidden for carriage in hand and checked baggage.

Prohibited devices include, but not limited to:

  • Hoverboards
  • Mini-segways
  • Balance wheels
  • Motorised ridable scooters
  • Ridable suitcases (including Airwheel)
  • Solo wheels
  • Other self-balancing scooters

Important: Any electric motorised bag or ridable suitcase will not be accepted for carriage. If you bring it to the airport, you will be refused carriage at check-in and it will be your responsibility to arrange for storage or disposal of such items prior to boarding.
