Yes. UAE citizens and residents require a visa to visit Eritrea.

If you are a UAE citizen, you must apply for a visa before entering the country. This multiple-entry visa allows you to stay in Eritrea for 30 days. It can be obtained by submitting a visa application to your nearest Eritrean Embassy or Consulate.

UAE residents also need to apply for a visa before entering Eritrea. You need to submit the visa application form at your nearest Eritrean Embassy or Consulate. Only Ugandan nationals do not need a visa to visit Eritrea. Nationals of Sudan and Ethiopia residing in the UAE can get a visa on arrival at the port of entry. This single-entry visa allows you to stay in the country for 30 days.

Note: Official Visa application is made directly to the Eritrean Immigration Office in Asmara by invitation through the concerned Ministry/Organisation/Company in Eritrea.

Citizens of Sudan and Ethiopia residing in the UAE are eligible for a visa on arrival. This visa can be obtained at the port of entry in Eritrea. You will need a passport with a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of arrival, passport-size photographs and proof of accommodation. This is a single-entry visa with a validity of 60 days and allows you to stay for a maximum of 30 days.
