Alcoholic beverages

Alcoholic beverages, when in retail packaging, with more than 24% but less than 70% alcohol by volume, in receptacles not exceeding 5 L, with a total net quantity per passenger of 5 L.

Batteries, battery-powered devices and power banks

The total number of spare batteries per passenger should not exceed 20. This limit includes one power bank and up to 2 non-spillable batteries.

Lithium batteries: Portable electronic devices
below 100 Wh or 2 g lithium

Portable electronic devices (PEDs) with lithium-metal or lithium-ion cells or batteries include medical devices such as portable oxygen concentrators and consumer electronics, such as cameras, mobile phones, laptops, and tablets (when carried for personal use).

  • Each lithium metal battery lithium metal content must not exceed 2 g.
  • Each lithium-ion battery Watt-hour rating must not exceed 100 Wh.
  • Maximum of 15 PEDsper passenger.


PEDs must be packed separately and not attached to other devices. Improper packing or exceeding the 15-item limit may result in confiscation.

Devices must be protected from damage and inadvertent activation. Those in checked baggage are to be completely switched off (not in sleep or hibernation mode).

Power banks

Only power banks up to 100 Wh are permitted for transportation. Regardless of the brand or terminology used - power bank, portable charger, battery pack, pocket charger, or power station - if the device’s primary function is to provide portable power, these rules apply.

Non-adherence to these requirements and restrictions may result in denial of carriage.

  • Only one (1) power bank is permitted per passenger.
  • The watt-hour (Wh) rating must be 100 Wh or less and clearly marked (labelled, embossed, or printed) on the device.
  • Power banks must be switched off and protected from short circuits and unintentional activation. It is advisable to have the power bank kept in the original retail packaging or a protective pouch/case.
  • Use of power banks on board is strictly prohibited, including charging devices or charging the power bank itself using aircraft power sockets.
  • Power banks must not be placed in overhead stowage lockers and should be stored in hand baggage, either under the seat or in the seat pocket in front of you.
  • Power banks are not permitted in checked baggage. 

Power banks over 100 Wh are strictly prohibited onboard.

Drones

Drones are only allowed in checked baggage. If your drone contains lithium batteries, they must either:

  • be secured inside the drone to prevent accidental activation or short circuits, or
  • be removed and carried in your hand baggage.

This regulation still applies even if you’re connecting to our flights from an airline that has accepted your drone as hand baggage.

Check the customs regulations at your destination and transit points before travel.

Smoking (cigarettes, vapes, e-cigarettes, any other smoking tool or device) is completely prohibited on board our aircraft and in many airports around the world.

All smoking/vaping devices must be in hand baggage and carried in the cabin, packaged to prevent any accidental activation. Any liquid components of vaporisers or other smoking tools/devices should follow the security requirements for carrying liquids.

If you check in your cabin bag or it is removed at the gate to go in the hold, you must remove e-cigarettes, vapes, and any other smoking tool or device and carry them in the cabin (in a small cabin bag or on your person).

Electronic smoking devices should be switched off and not used or charged at any time.

Check your transit and destination regulations in respect of smoking/vaping devices and their sale and use.

Non-spillable batteries: Battery-powered wheelchairs and mobility devices

Battery-powered wheelchairs and mobility devices with non-spillable wet batteries which comply with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations Special Provision A67 or with nickel-metal hydride batteries which comply with Special Provision A199 or dry batteries which comply with Special Provision A123, provided the batteries are protected from short circuit, such as being enclosed in a battery container or battery securely attached to the wheelchair or mobility aid.

Mobility aid must be prepared for transport to prevent:

  • short-circuit (batteries - exposed terminals must be effectively insulated, equipment – disconnection of battery and protection of exposed terminals)
  • unintentional activation
  • non-spillable batteries are not permitted to contain any free or unabsorbed liquid.

Passengers can carry a maximum of:

  • one spare wet, non-spillable battery meeting Special Provision A67; or
  • two spare nickel-metal hydride batteries meeting Special Provision A 199 or dry batteries meeting Special Provision A123.

Any battery(ies) removed from the wheelchair/mobility aid and any spare batteries must be in strong, rigid packaging and must be carried as checked baggage.

Spillable batteries: Battery-powered wheelchairs and mobility devices

Battery-powered wheelchairs and mobility devices with spillable batteries.

Batteries must meet the following requirements:

  • battery terminals protected from short-circuit (such as enclosed within the battery container)
  • battery(ies) fitted with spill-resistant vent caps (where feasible)

Batteries are to be adequately protected against damage and securely attached to the mobility device. The manufacturer’s instructions to be followed for isolating electrical circuits.

The mobility aid will only be accepted if the battery remains attached to the wheelchair during transportation and is kept in an upright position, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Batteries removed from the device will not be transported.

Lithium-ion batteries: Battery-powered wheelchairs and mobility devices

Batteries must meet the requirements of each test in UN Manual of Tests and Criteria Part III, 38.3.

Batteries must be protected from short circuit (such as being enclosed in a battery container).

Batteries are to be adequately protected against damage and securely attached to the mobility device. The manufacturer’s instructions are to be followed for isolating electrical circuits.

Batteries are to be removed from the mobility device following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Each battery removed not to exceed 300 Wh (No Watt-hour limit if battery remains installed in the mobility aid).

Mobility aids (collapsible) with lithium-ion batteries – batteries must be removed and carried in the cabin. Batteries must not exceed 300 Wh, or for a device fitted with 2 batteries, each battery must not exceed 160 Wh.

Spare batteries can be carried – a maximum of one at 300 Wh or two at a maximum of 160 Wh each. Removed spare batteries to be protected from damage by placing them in a protective pouch and carrying them in hand baggage.

Ridable suitcases and small vehicles

All small electric leisure vehicles powered by lithium batteries are forbidden due to fire risks, including (but not limited to) hoverboards, mini-segways, balance wheels, motorised ridable scooters, ridable suitcases (including Airwheel), solo wheels, other self-balancing scooters. Further, flydubai does not allow carriage of such vehicles and devices even without batteries. This rule still applies even if you’re connecting onto one of our flights from an airline that has accepted them.

Avalanche rescue backpacks

One avalanche rescue backpack per passenger, containing compressed gas cartridges in Division 2.2. may be equipped with a pyrotechnical trigger mechanism containing no more than 200mg of Division 1.4S.

The backpack must be packed so that it cannot be accidentally activated. Airbags within a backpack must be fitted with pressure relief valves.

Passengers can carry a maximum of:

  • one spare wet, non-spillable battery meeting Special Provision A67; or
  • two spare nickel-metal hydride batteries meeting Special Provision A 199 or dry batteries meeting Special Provision A123.

Any battery(ies) removed from the wheelchair/mobility aid and any spare batteries must be in strong, rigid packaging and must be carried as checked baggage.

Battery-powered wheelchairs and mobility devices with spillable batteries.

Batteries must meet the following requirements:

  • battery terminals protected from short-circuit (such as enclosed within the battery container)
  • battery(ies) fitted with spill-resistant vent caps (where feasible)

Batteries are to be adequately protected against damage and securely attached to the mobility device. The manufacturer’s instructions to be followed for isolating electrical circuits.

The mobility aid will only be accepted if the battery remains attached to the wheelchair during transportation and is kept in an upright position, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Batteries removed from the device will not be transported.

Lithium-ion batteries: Battery-powered wheelchairs and mobility devices

Batteries must meet the requirements of each test in UN Manual of Tests and Criteria Part III, 38.3.

Batteries must be protected from short circuit (such as being enclosed in a battery container).

Batteries are to be adequately protected against damage and securely attached to the mobility device. The manufacturer’s instructions are to be followed for isolating electrical circuits.

Batteries are to be removed from the mobility device following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Each battery removed not to exceed 300 Wh (No Watt-hour limit if battery remains installed in the mobility aid).

Mobility aids (collapsible) with lithium-ion batteries – batteries must be removed and carried in the cabin. Batteries must not exceed 300 Wh, or for a device fitted with 2 batteries, each battery must not exceed 160 Wh.

Spare batteries can be carried – a maximum of one at 300 Wh or two at a maximum of 160 Wh each. Removed spare batteries to be protected from damage by placing them in a protective pouch and carrying them in hand baggage.

All small electric leisure vehicles powered by lithium batteries are forbidden due to fire risks, including (but not limited to) hoverboards, mini-segways, balance wheels, motorised ridable scooters, ridable suitcases (including Airwheel), solo wheels, other self-balancing scooters. Further, flydubai does not allow carriage of such vehicles and devices even without batteries. This rule still applies even if you’re connecting onto one of our flights from an airline that has accepted them.
