If you are travelling with your own portable oxygen concentrator, you must complete, and submit a Physician’s statement for air travel with POC form via the Contact us form, selecting ‘Portable oxygen concentrator’ subject in the drop-down, no later than 72 hours before your flight departure. You must also present a completed copy of this statement at the airport check-in counter.
The physician's statement should include the following:
- The maximum oxygen flow rate considering air pressure in the cabin under normal operating conditions.
- Whether oxygen is medically required for the whole or a portion of the flight.
- The passenger can see/hear/understand device’s aural and visual warnings.
- The passenger can and will take appropriate action in response to cautions without assistance unless accompanied by a passenger who can fulfil those functions.
Note: When travelling in Business Class, the POC cannot be used and must be stowed in the overhead locker during taxi, takeoff, approach, landing, and abnormal or emergency conditions.

If your device is not on the list and is newly approved by the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) (https://www.faa.gov/about/initiatives/cabin_safety/portable_oxygen) please contact our Customer Centre on (+971) 600 54 44 45 or send us a message via the Contact us form, selecting ‘Portable oxygen concentrator’ subject in the drop-down to get medical clearance at least 72 hours before your flight.
POC batteries
Ensure you have sufficient batteries (including a fully-charged spare battery) to last the entire journey (factoring in transit times and unexpected delays). The device cannot be plugged into the in-seat power supply.
Portable oxygen concentrator can be carried as checked baggage if:
- The device is empty and free of pressure
- The battery is removed and packed separately, or
- The device has a recessed battery terminal and the packed battery terminals are not touching metal objects, including other battery terminals.
Note: Any portable oxygen concentrator is considered a portable electronic device. Please check our lithium battery guide for more details on transporting devices with lithium batteries.
Positive airway pressure (PAP), continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), and respiratory devices
In accordance with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the UAE regulations, you can carry your positive airway pressure (PAP), continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), and respiratory device on board without prior approval, unless you require further assistance.
If you need to use your device during the flight, it must be battery-operated. In-seat power supply cannot be used to charge or operate CPAP/PAP devices. Ensure you have sufficient batteries (including a fully-charged spare battery) to last the entire journey (factoring in transit times and unexpected delays).
