Travel restrictions to Nepal

Who can travel?

  • Open to citizens and residents of Nepal
  • Open to citizens and residents * of the United Arab Emirates
  • Open to all visitors subject to meeting the entry requirements

PCR and vaccination documents needed for travelling

Passengers must have:

  • a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival; OR
  • a negative COVID-19 test result certificate from a test taken at most 72 hours before the departure of the first flight of their itinerary. Tests accepted are GeneXpert, NAAT and RT-PCR.
  • This does not apply to:
    • passengers younger than 5 years.

Citizens of Nepal arriving from Ukraine are exempt from pre-departure COVID-19 entry requirements. They are subject to antigen tests on arrival.

Antigen test on arrival in Nepal

  • Passengers could be subject to a COVID-19 antigen test upon arrival.
  • This does not apply to:
    • passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival;
    • passengers with a negative COVID-19 GeneXpert, NAAT or RT-PCR test result certificate from a test taken at most 72 hours before the departure of the first flight of their itinerary.

Visa on arrival in Nepal

  • Visa on arrival facilities restarted for eligible passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arrival OR holding a negative PCR test result issued at most 72 hours before the departure of the first flight of their itinerary.
  • Citizens of the following countries (except for officials and diplomatic passport holders): Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iraq, Liberia, Nigeria, Palestine, Somalia, Swaziland, Syria, Zimbabwe, and refugees with travel documents are requested to obtain a tourist visa from an Embassy or a Consulate of Nepal prior to departure.

Departing from Nepal

  • Passengers must complete an “International Traveller Online Departure Form" at https://ccmc.gov.np/.
  • Passengers departing from Nepal must comply with the requirements of the transit and destination countries.
