How do I bid?

  • When you book an economy fare with flydubai, we give you the opportunity to upgrade your cabin to Business Class at a price you like.
  • You can place your bid to upgrade up to 10 hours prior to your scheduled time of departure, if you are flying from Dubai, or up to 18 hours prior to departure for all other flights. 
  • We'll send you an email to let you know when the bidding starts, or you can enter your details in the eligibility widget above to get started. 
  • You can change or cancel your offer while the bidding is still open, given it has not already been accepted.

Did I get an upgrade?

  • When the bidding ends before departure, we'll send you an email to let you know, if your offer won. 
  • If your offer has been accepted, your credit card will be charged for the upgrade with the price you offered, and you'll receive an updated boarding pass during check-in. 
  • If your offer is not accepted, you won't be charged anything extra and you can continue your original flight journey according to your booking details.

If your bid is successful, you'll receive an upgrade to the Business Class cabin where you can enjoy the following benefits:

How does flydubai assess my offer?
We consider several factors when assessing bid to upgrade offers. This may include the value of your bid and the value of other passengers' bids, the number of seats available in Business Class, and your Skywards Miles tier.
When does flydubai decide which offers are accepted?
We can choose to accept your offer at any time up to 10 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time (if you are flying from Dubai) and up to 18 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure time (if you are flying to Dubai). This also means you can change or cancel your bid to upgrade up to 10 or 18 hours prior to departure (depending on whether you are flying from or to Dubai).
Will I earn Skywards Miles from my upgraded flight?
You will only earn Skywards Miles from your original Economy Class booking and will not accrue additional Skywards Miles when you are upgraded to Business Class.
What are the fare rules of the upgraded flight?
The fare rules of your new Business Class booking will apply to your upgraded flight, including change fees and cancellation penalties.
My bid was successful. What documents do I need when I check in at the airport?
You will need to present your travel documents and booking confirmation during check-in. You will receive a boarding pass for your Business Class seat to continue the rest of your journey.

Eligibility

Am I eligible to bid for an upgrade?

To be eligible to submit an online bid for an upgrade, you should have a fully paid and confirmed flydubai Economy Class booking.

Are all my flights eligible for an upgrade?
Based on the availability of Business class seats on your flight, it may or may not be eligible for an upgrade. Alternatively, you can enter your details above to check if your flight is eligible.
How will I know when to place a bid to upgrade?

We will send you an email to let you know that the bidding has started.

You can place your bid to upgrade between:

  • 8 days to 10 hours prior to your scheduled time of departure if you are flying from Dubai;
  • 8 days to 18 hours prior to your scheduled time of departure if you are flying to Dubai.

Alternatively, you can check via manage booking or you can enter your details above to check if your booking is eligible.

Are there any specific reasons why I might not be eligible to bid for an upgrade?

If you are travelling using one of the following booking types, you will not be eligible to bid for an upgrade:

  • Free booking
  • A booking that has already been upgraded using Skywards Miles or cash
  • Booking that is a part of a group booking
  • Staff booking
I booked my flight using my Skywards Miles. Can I place a bid to upgrade?
You can place a bid to upgrade for an Economy Class booking made using Skywards Miles.
Can I bid to upgrade on flydubai flights which are operated by partner airlines?

flydubai codeshare and interline flights operated by partner airlines do not currently offer the option to bid for an upgrade.

Making an offer

How does the bid to upgrade work?

When you book an Economy Class flight with flydubai, based on the eligibility criteria, we give you the opportunity to upgrade your cabin to Business Class by placing a bid for the price you would like to pay for the upgrade.

Can I change or cancel my bid after I have submitted an offer?

You can change or cancel your offer while the bidding is still open, given it has not already been accepted.

Once your offer is successful, you will not be able to cancel your upgrade or refund the amount you have paid for the bid.

Is there a time limit on making an offer?

You can make an offer to upgrade once you have a fully paid and confirmed Economy Class booking and it is eligible for an upgrade. You can place an offer up to 10 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure of your flight if you are flying from Dubai and up to 18 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure of your flight, if you are flying to Dubai.

I deleted my invitation email but would like to place a bid. What should I do?
Go to 'Manage booking' section and enter your last name and booking reference to start the bidding process. Alternatively, you can enter your details in the eligibility widget on this page.
I cancelled my original offer, but now I would like to make a new offer. How can I do this?
If the option to place a bid to upgrade your flight is still open, you can place the bid again by using the invitation link from the email or by entering your details through ‘Manage booking’ section or the eligibility widget on this page to start your bidding process.
Can I check in online, if I have already placed a bid for upgrade?
If you choose to check in online for your Economy Class flight, your bid will automatically get cancelled and you will no longer be eligible for an upgrade to Business Class.
I’ve already checked in online. Can I still place a bid and participate in the auction?
Once you have checked in online, you can no longer place a bid to upgrade.
I was participating in the auction and submitted a bid for an amount that I’m now not willing to pay. Can I lower my bid?

You can lower your bid while the bidding is still open, given it has not already been accepted.

Once your offer is successful, you will not be able to cancel your upgrade or refund the amount you’ve paid for the bid.

How will I know if my bid was successful?
When the bidding ends 18 hours before the scheduled time of departure of your flight to Dubai or 10 hours before the scheduled time of departure of your flight from Dubai, we'll send you an email to let you know if your offer won.
What happens if my bid was successful?
If your bid was successful, your credit card will be charged for the upgrade with the price you quoted. You'll receive an updated Business Class booking confirmation to your email and a Business Class boarding pass during check-in.
What happens if my bid wasn't successful?
If your bid was not successful, you won't be charged anything extra and you can continue your original flight journey according to your booking details.
Can I increase my bid after I find out I wasn’t upgraded?
Once the bidding has ended, you won't be able to make another offer.
I have already paid an additional amount for seat selection in Economy. Will I be refunded for the seat, if my bid is successful?

If you have already paid an additional amount for seat selection in Economy, and your bid to upgrade to Business Class is successful, you won't be refunded for the amount you paid for your selected seat.

If your bid is not successful, you can continue your journey with the seat you selected.

I have already paid an additional amount to buy extra baggage for my Economy Class flight. Will I be refunded for the pre-purchased baggage, if my bid is successful?

If you have already paid an additional amount to buy extra baggage for your Economy Class flight, and your bid to upgrade to Business Class is successful, you won’t be refunded for the amount you paid for the pre-purchased baggage.

If your bid is not successful, you can continue your journey with the pre-purchased baggage allowance.

Multiple flights and passengers

I have multiple flights in my journey. Can I place a bid to upgrade for all my flights?

When you receive an invitation email to place your bid, you will be able to see which flights in your journey are eligible for an upgrade. If multiple flights are eligible, you will have to place a separate bid for each sector of your flight booking.

Can I bid different amounts for each sector of my flight booking?
If multiple legs of your journey are eligible for an upgrade, you can place a bid of a different amount for each flight sector.
What should I do, if I do not wish to place a bid for a particular sector of my flight booking?
If multiple sectors of your booking are eligible for an upgrade, you can choose to place a bid only on a specific sector.
If my bid is successful, can I use it to upgrade any sector of my booking?
If your bid is successful, it will only be valid on the flight sector and date shown. The upgrade cannot be used on any other flight in your journey.
I need to change my flight booking for which I have placed a bid to upgrade. Can I transfer the bid to my new flight?
The bid you place is only valid for the flight and date shown. If you have to change your booking, cancel your existing bid, and enter the details for your new flight booking through ‘Manage booking’ section or the eligibility widget on this page to check if it is eligible for an upgrade.
Is the bid applicable for all passengers in the booking?
When placing an offer, you will have to bid for all passengers in your booking.
Can I place a bid on behalf of family and/or friends travelling on the same or different flight?
You can bid to upgrade your family or friends using the bidding link sent to them in the invitation email. If you use a credit card, that doesn’t belong to a passenger listed in the booking which you are bidding for, your family and friends will need to present a photocopy of the front of the credit card and a photocopy of the cardholder's passport at the airport during check-in.

Payment

How can I pay for my bid?

When you place your bid, we will ask you for your credit card details. You will only be charged, if your bid is successful.

Can I pay for my bid amount using a credit card that belongs to another person?

You can use a different credit card to pay for your bid amount. However, you will need to present a photocopy of the front of the credit card and a photocopy of the cardholder's passport at the airport during check-in.

Please note: a credit/debit card cannot be used to pay on behalf of someone else travelling to or from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Pakistan, South Sudan, Sri Lanka or Sudan.

Can I pay for my bid amount using Skywards Miles?
Currently, you can only pay for your bid amount using a valid credit card.
Does my bid amount include taxes?
All applicable payable taxes and fees (if any) for the upgrade are included in the total bid amount.
Does my bid amount include the price of my original fare?
Your bid amount is over and above the fare that you have already paid for your flight.
When will the bid amount be charged to my credit card?
flydubai will start to evaluate all bids from 50 hours prior to departure. Once your bid has been accepted, your credit card will be charged.
Can I pay with two different credit cards?
Each upgrade under your booking reference can only be paid for in one transaction using the same credit card.
What should I do, if I need to change my credit card after I have submitted my offer?
If your offer has not been accepted yet, you can cancel your current offer and resubmit your bid using the new credit card details.
What if I don't have a credit card?
Currently, we only accept a valid credit card for payment.
Can I get a refund, if I changed my mind and don’t want the upgrade anymore?

You can change or cancel your offer while the bidding is still open, given it has not already been accepted.

Once your offer is successful, you will not be able to cancel your upgrade or refund the amount you have paid for the bid.

Will my bid amount be refunded, if I modify my booking?
Once your offer is successful, you will not be able to cancel your upgrade or refund the amount you have paid for the bid. All upgrades are non-transferable, non-refundable, and are valid only on the flight and date shown.
Will my bid amount be refunded, if I cancel my booking?
Once your offer is successful, you will not be able to cancel your upgrade or refund the amount you have paid for the bid. All upgrades are non-transferable, non-refundable, and are valid only on the flight and date shown.
Will my bid amount be refunded, if my flight is cancelled?
If flydubai cancels a flight and re-accommodates you on another flight, any offer you made for your original booking may, at the sole discretion of flydubai, be transferred to the new flight(s) subject to availability of seats in Business Class.
If my flight is cancelled by flydubai, what happens to my booking if flydubai can no longer accommodate me in Business Class on re-booked flight?
If your offer is successful, and you have already paid for your upgrade, but do not wish to be accommodated to a Business Class seat on a different flight, your bid amount will be refunded back to you in the form of voucher, and you will be accommodated to an Economy Class seat, subject to availability.
If flydubai is cancelled by flydubai, what happens if I don't want to be re-accommodated to Business Class on a different flight?
If your offer is successful, and you have already paid for your upgrade, and you don't want to be re-accommodated to Business Class on a different flight, your booking will be cancelled, and your booking amount and your bid amount will be refunded back to you in the form of voucher.
What happens to my booking, if flydubai downgrades my flight?

If your offer is successful, and you have already paid for your upgrade, and flydubai downgrades your flight, you can select to either be re-accommodated to Economy Class and your bid amount will be refunded back to you in the form of voucher or you can select be re-accommodated to Business Class on a different flight.

What happens to my upgrade, if I miss my flight?
If you have been successfully upgraded, but are unable to make it for the flight, the amount you paid for the bid won’t be refunded.
I received an email informing me that my bid has been unsuccessful, but a short while later, my card has been charged. What should I do?
If your offer was unsuccessful, but you received a notification that your card has been charged, please send an email to upgrades@flydubai.com.
