The most amazing spots to watch the sunrise

There are some things that are worth waking up early for, and a beautiful sunrise is definitely one of them. See your incredible surroundings in a whole new light and snap a picture perfect memento.

There’s something truly magical about looking out across a lush green land, a jagged mountainous range or the crystal clear sea, as the sun appears and casts a yellow orange glow across it all.

Whether you’re a morning person or not, you won’t regret waking up to see the sunrise over these stunning views:

Kausani in India

Kausani is a hill station located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is famous for its beautiful scenery and panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks. Its location on a mountain ridge, almost 2,000 metres above sea level, alongside the peaceful and serene atmosphere, makes it the perfect spot to watch the sunrise.

Cappadocia in Turkey

This region in central Turkey  is well known for its ‘fairy chimneys’ – tall, cone-shaped, clustered rock formations. This beautiful landscape makes it the perfect place for balloon rides which take off every morning at dawn. Enjoy the sunrise from the sky or take it in from the ground and watch the colourful balloons drift across the rising sun.

Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania

Where better to take in the sunrise than the highest mountain in Africa? You may want to climb this mountain in Tanzania  – it’ll be the challenge of a lifetime but seeing the sunrise from the top will make it all worthwhile. If you don’t fancy climbing, it is equally spectacular to watch the sunrise against the silhouette of the peaks.

Koh Samui in Thailand

Thailand’s second largest island is famous for both its beaches and the Big Buddha Temple, which is home to a 12 metre golden Buddha.

Watching the sunrise over a paradise like Thailand is always going to be incredible, but to see the Buddha silhouetted in front of it is extra special.

During sunrise locals carry colourful arrangements of flowers and fruits and place offerings at the Buddha’s feet. You’ll also see monks perform their prayers and chants. This, coupled with the heady scent of incense, makes it an incredibly moving experience.

Mount Sinai in Egypt

This mountain, also known as Jebel Musa or Mount Moses on the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt , is said to be the site where Moses received the 10 Commandments from God. The small chapels at the summit provide breathtaking views of the sunrise.
