Winter sun in the Middle East

Dig out your sunglasses and escape the cold weather by jetting off to soak up some winter sun in the Middle East.

If you aren’t sure where to go, we’ve tracked down a few places that are guaranteed to warm you up this winter.

Dubai, UAE

With year-round sunshine and long stretches of golden sandy beaches, Dubai is the perfect place for your winter break.

Here, you can make the most of the sun whilst relaxing in the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf. With a backdrop of skyscrapers and iconic buildings, enjoy activities such as kitesurfing and paddle boarding. Dubai is also home to some of the most thrilling water parks in the Middle East - visit Aquaventure at the Atlantis The Palm or explore Wild Wadi, situated in front of the Burj Al Arab.

Step away from the waterfront and out into the desert, where you can experience camel rides and dune bashing during a safari – or watch the sunrise and set over this impressive landscape.

Salalah, Oman

You won’t regret spending your winter break in this colourful, subtropical city, with its coconut-fringed white-sand beaches and plantations of tropical fruit.

While in Oman, you can pay a visit to Marneef Cave close to Al Mughsayl beach. From here, you’ll experience sweeping views of the surrounding seascape, the perfect spot for a picnic. Just a short distance away, you’ll find three fascinating blowholes which shoot seawater into the air up to heights of 28m. Once you have explored these fantastic features, head down to the beach, which is nestled between mountains, for a picturesque setting to bask in the sun.

While enjoying the warm weather, you should also take a trip to Wadi Darbat natural park, one of the most beautiful and scenic spots in the city.

Kuwait

Kuwait, nestled at the top of the Gulf, is known for its modern architecture and skyscrapers.

By day, take a boat trip across the bay and explore the reefs that lie off shore, discovering a variety of colourful marine life that inhabits them. From here, you can take advantage of this unique vantage point and marvel at the beautiful skyline from the sea.

There are many places to sit and enjoy Kuwait Bay while sampling some of the country’s delicious cuisine - and you can also head up Kuwait Towers for dinner while looking out across the city. If you time your visit just right, you’ll be rewarded with particularly spectacular views as the sun is setting.

If you’re looking for some winter sun accompanied by stunning scenery, beaches and history, book a flight with flydubai to visit the Middle East.
