Fitness to fly

If you have a medical condition or require medical assistance during travel, you may need to complete the Medical Information Form (MEDIF) for us to assess whether it's safe for you to travel and if we can provide the assistance you require during your journey.

Find out when you need a MEDIF or a fit-to-fly certificate. If you're unsure which one is required, review the information on both pages to determine which document you need.

Medical Information Form


You must complete a Medical Information Form if you:

  • Require a medical escort or are undergoing medical treatment during travel.
  • Need to use medical equipment on board.
  • Have recently undergone surgery or medical treatment.
  • Have a serious, unstable, contagious, or infectious medical condition.

Medical fit-to-fly certificate


You need a medical certificate in the following (non-exhaustive) cases:

  • If you require a specific wheelchair or mobility assistance.
  • If you are travelling during certain stages of pregnancy.
  • If you have a recent limb fracture or plaster cast.
  • If you have recently had a communicable or infectious disease.
